Mission

Studio Primer helps working artists formalize their practice — legally, financially, and operationally. Most artists are operating as unincorporated sole proprietors without realizing the exposure that creates. Primer exists to close that gap with practitioner-led guidance on the issues that actually shape a career: entity structure, contracts, taxes, pricing, representation, and the long arc of a working life.

We are a small studio based in New York and Lisbon, building Primer with artists, gallerists, attorneys, and accountants who have spent decades inside the system. The curriculum is updated as the landscape shifts — new tax rules, new platforms, new contract norms — and members keep access for life.
